Part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle is to have a holistic outlook when it comes to our bodies and brains. That’s why we made the choice to partner with a company called WTHN. Aside from being our neighbor in the Flatiron NYC area, WTHN is an acupuncture, cupping, and herbal treatment studio rooted in traditional Chinese medicine. Their approach to the mind-body connection goes beyond the physical and reaches deep within.
I’ve got the best arm workout right in time for Memorial Day Weekend festivities. Quick arm exercises are my specialty, as they are one of my favorite parts of the body to work out. I pride myself on being a strong and independent woman, and that extends to my physicality. I love having the ability to do certain things on my own—build furniture, haul DanceBody equipment, carry boxes of La Croix from the grocery store to my apartment, open the pickle jar. Oh yeah, and teach copious amounts of DanceBody classes and Private Clients. Plus, I love how toned arms look in a cute tank top for summer.
When most people think of arm workouts they picture a gym full of equipment. Fortunately, there are certain exercises you can do that don’t require heavy lifting at all and you’ll still gain the full benefits of beautifully toned arms.
Here are three exercises I recommend for the best arm workout:
Dance fitness is just like any other sport---the muscles, tendons, and ligaments work together to perform at athletic levels. Except, unlike sports, dance is an opportunity to connect with your body’s full range of motion in a heart-thumping, fun, and interactive way. Our goal isn’t necessarily to “score points” but to #KeepMoving (and keep feeling great!) throughout our fitness journey.
Our DanceBody at home workouts are there for you when you can’t make it to class in person. You don’t have to live in New York City to have access to the best boutique dance fitness workouts. With over 130 hours of On-Demand options to choose from, plus over 10 DanceBody LIVE classes streamed daily, the DanceBody team is dedicated to bring that same ”in studio” energy to you at home. And our community of streamers–which spans countries such as Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, France, Serbia, and more know that it’s only together that we can #KeepMoving.
Your abs act as a central link between your upper and lower body, so finding the best ab workout is essential for better movement. Traditionally, core exercises are thought of as crunches or planks, but dancers know that there are plenty of exercises you can do while simply standing to create a stronger, more toned midsection.
It’s time for a new dance cardio workout program, a “spring awakening,” if you will. Every year at this time, when the days get longer, and the air becomes warmer, we Get May’d.
Come spring, most people could use a little kickstart to rev up their fitness routine again after a long, sluggish winter.. Get May’d is our annual, company wide initiative that celebrates recommitting to a healthy routine. Since we started the program in 2016, Get May’d is a staple at the DanceBody Studios, and now on DanceBody LIVE too! This is a prime opportunity to get fit, feel strong, and find the power within to reconnect with ourselves for the entire month of May.
Everyone begins their dance cardio journey somewhere. Even our DanceBody team learns new dances every quarter, one step at a time. Whether you’re a beginner or have been dancing for years, there are certain tips that can help you get the most out of a dance cardio class.
Here are 6 ways to optimize your dance workout.
When it comes to sculpting during our dance fitness classes we discovered that gripping weights caused tension in our shoulders. This is why our CEO + Founder decided to create our very own 2-3lb D-Weights in 2016, perfectly designed to compliment our DanceBody classes.
Over the past year, I’ve reflected back to what inspired me to build DanceBody. Why was I so passionate about this type of work in the beginning? Work that, even now, gives me the fortitude to keep it going.
It’s been one year since our DanceBody team showed up at City Hall, to demand that NYC boutique fitness studios be reopened. Looking back, it was well worth it.
